Mike Young is a seasoned entrepreneur and a respected leader with a diverse background spanning multiple industries. As the founder and team leader of the Mike Young Team, he brings over three decades of experience in real estate and renovation consulting, specializing in the FHA 203k loan process. His journey into the field began under challenging circumstances; in 1990, Mike was temporarily paralyzed due to an injury. During his recovery, he was inspired by the medical expertise that helped him regain mobility, leading him to pursue a new career path that aligned with his new physical capabilities.
In 1992, Mike became a real estate appraiser, a role that serendipitously introduced him to the world of 203k consulting. After attending a seminar to learn about the FHA 203k program—created in 1961 but underutilized until HUD revamped it—Mike became one of the select few consultants who mastered the comprehensive 2-inch thick 203k manual. His deep understanding of the program has made him a pivotal figure in its application, helping countless homeowners and investors navigate the complexities of home renovations with ease.
Beyond his role at Mike Young Team, Mike has demonstrated a keen aptitude for leadership and innovation in various capacities. He has served as the Chairman of the Board for a Mini Storage Company for 19 years and was the President of Young & Company Manufacturing. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to co-found and lead five different investment groups and D&D Manufacturing, which produced machinery for building flexible duct systems for heating and air conditioning.
Mike's commitment to community service is evident in his work with the homeless and his active participation in civic organizations. He was the president of the Crockett Lion's Club and a member of the Richmond Rotary Club, reflecting his deep-rooted values of compassion and service. His personal interests are as diverse as his professional endeavors, including serving as a judge at dog shows, engaging in sheet metal work, and nurturing his passion for bonsai tree cultivation. He also holds the position of President at Plyco Foundation Vents, further showcasing his multifaceted skills and interests.
